As our first production in 2014, this track was written specifically for the TUMI Satellite Summit 2014, The Fight for the Future Begins, and builds on themes taken from the original film in The Matrix series. We believe that equipping leaders for ministry means that we train them to wage a good warfare in the truth of Christ, and stand purposely against the lies that ravage people's lives. While we do not fight against people, i.e., "flesh and blood" (Eph. 6.10-18), we do face a crafty spiritual enemy whose weapons of choice are deadly falsehoods specifically designed to ruin and wreak havoc in the lives of believers in the city. Much is at stake in this ongoing warfare–the very liberation and transformation of souls in our hurting and ruined cities.
We are committed to creating beats and tracks which focus on truth-speaking and truth-living, songs which highlight the great battle occurring in our cities among the poor, and songs which inspire urban Christian warriors to stand up for their communities and families. This song was written specifically for our site coordinators whom we gather regularly for reflection, strategy, and mutual inspiration. Whether these coordinators are equipping leaders in prison, in ministries working with at-risk youth and adults, in rescue missions, or local churches around the globe, we want them to do as the Apostle Paul exhorted Timothy to do in his work. “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses”(1 Tim. 6.12). This jam is a call to fight, a challenge to persevere and to stand ground in the midst of tough urban communities which need to hear the good news of Christ and his Kingdom. This message applies not only to them, but also to all others who desire to flee the things of the world and to stand their ground against the lies of the enemy, as a soldier of Christ. (As always, for best results in listening to our productions, play the track loud!)
