This album release is the debut project of The Urban Ministry Institute's new initiative, TUMI Productions, which is our effort to provide urban Christians and churches with music that reflects the themes and rhythms of the city. This album, Mo' Power, is also the first in our Spiritual Warfare Series. All the tunes here represent and speak to the reality of spiritual warfare, and our need to conquer our spiritual enemies in Christ’s name. This project was a wonderful collaborative effort. I wrote all the songs on the release, and contributed both lead and background vocals, along with rhythm guitars recorded by Dan Hennings, TUMI’s Technology Director. Bobby Gilmer, owner of his own studio (Studio 212) and the Musical Director of TUMI Productions, produced this album. Bobby recorded the tracks, provided his own his excellent musicianship (e.g., guitars, bass, drum programming), and did all the studio engineering. Flavio Gonzalez, Bobby's colleague and a remarkable musician, supplied keyboards, drums, and bass. Daniel Davis, my son and one of TUMI’s IT Specialists, worked with those who mastered and printed copies of the release. One special note: without Bobby’s and Flavio’s sacrifice and excellence this project would never have been done. Indeed, they were the horses pulling the wagon of this project.

This project is dedicated to every urban Christian who stands his or her ground in the face of Satan’s attacks and lies. We hope that they will be encouraged to persevere in the evil day, as Paul says (Eph. 6.11-13), and continue to trust in Jesus of Nazareth, who was called Christus Victor in the ancient church, the mighty Captain who continues to fight for us against all things seeking to destroy us – our old sin nature (“the traitor within”), the world systems of lust, greed, and pride, and the devil, the ancient foe of humankind and the church. Our Lord is a warrior, the true Captain of our salvation, through whom we go forth and conquer in his name alone. May all who make war in Jesus’ name and power continue to fight and persevere, till the end. For them, as for us, the fight is on! (For best results, play loud!)
